English news outlet Daily Mail has reported that Aston Villa are very close to securing the loan move of the out-of-favour Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford. Villa will also have a £40 million clause in the deal to buy the player permanently in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report also states that Rashford has already agreed on personal terms with Villa, and the club will pay 70 percent of the £350,000-a-week wages that Rashford currently receives at United. Moreover, the deal will also have bonuses for Villa going deep into the UEFA Champions League this season and qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Rashford has fallen out of favor under the new manager, Ruben Amorim. The manager has not played him on the first team for over a month and has clearly stated that his future is not at his boyhood club.

The Englishman also needs game time and wants to play regularly at this stage of the career. Many clubs were interested in the player, and it was finally Villa who have received the services of Rashford.

Rashford has scored four goals in 15 matches so far in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. Two of the four goals were scored at home, while he scored two goals at away games. Overall, Marcus Rashford’s goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.37. Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is five for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.46 per 90 minutes. His non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.33. Rashford has appeared in 15 matches this season in the Premier League, playing a total of 983 minutes.

Why does Villa want him?

Villa has already lost the services of Jhon Duran, and moreover, Arsenal are very interested in Ollie Watkins at the very end of the transfer window. Hence, they are in dire need of an attacker, as they are in the Round of 16 of the Champions League and want to go deep into the competition.

Marcus Rashford brings speed, skill, and a knack for scoring crucial goals to Aston Villa. His experience in the Premier League and Champions League could elevate Villa’s attack. His ability to exploit defences on the counter would fit perfectly into Unai Emery’s tactical setup, potentially making Villa a formidable force.

The player has already arrived at the club on Sunday to have his medical examination. So, the loan deal looks more or less complete, but it will be interesting to see if Villa trigger the buyout clause in the summer to permanently get him.
