Sunday has seen news of another Premier League manager sacked.
The Athletic reporting (see below) that Wolves have dismissed Gary O’Neil.
After losing late on to relegation rivals Ipswich at home, Wolves now second bottom and four points from safety, ahead of Sunday’s matches.
Erik ten Hag was the first Premier League manager sacked this season, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s hilarious running of Manchester United an ongoing circus. That sacking coming only months after Ratcliffe had given Erik ten Hag a new extended and enhanced contract and allowed him to waste another £200m on new signings.
Steve Cooper was then sacked by Leicester, to become the second Premier League manager sacked.
Wolves now ensuring it is at least three before we get to Christmas.
‘Gary O’Neil has been sacked as Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach.
The 41-year-old only signed a new four-year deal with the club in August after an impressive first season at Molineux but Saturday’s defeat against Ipswich Town — an 11th of the 2024-25 campaign — left them 19th in the table, four points from safety.
The 2-1 home reverse — sealed by a 94th minute winner from Jack Taylor — comes five days after the 2-1 defeat at West Ham United on Monday. In 16 Premier League games they have now conceded 40 goals.
