We put in solid showings in our first two friendly matches of the pre-season against both Unterhaching (3-0) and Kuchl (8-1), but we now face opponents of a different level – we can look forward to an exciting test of strength against the Czech side who are in action soon in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League on 23 July and therefore aiming to hit their best form by now.

We are broadcasting the match between AC Sparta Prague and our Red Bulls on a free RBS TV live stream.

AC Sparta Prague lowdown

  • Our coach Pepijn Lijnders faced Sparta Prague as recently as March in the UEFA Europa League last 16. Liverpool convincingly won the tie, 11-2 on aggregate.
  • We have also faced the record Czech champions in the recent past (with 14 league titles). In January 2023 we beat them 2-1 in a friendly match in Marbella. One of our former Red Bulls appeared for them, with Asger Sörensen remaining in the Spartan ranks.
  • On that subject: The club founded in 1893 were inspired by the ancient city of Sparta, and its legendary fighting spirit.
  • The opponents have an estimated market value of 72 million Euro. Their top player in this regard is young defender, Martin Vitik, who has an estimated value of 12 Million Euro.
  • Czech legends Petr Cech, Jan Koller, Tomas Rosicky and Pavel Nedved all previously played for the club. They also produced two talents that now ply their trade in the German Bundesliga in the recent past with Adam Hlozek and Patrik Schick.
