The performance conjured up by Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois on Tuesday evening served as a clear-cut message to head coach Carlo Ancelotti, ahead of the upcoming Champions League final.

Courtois, for his part, was afforded his latest start between the posts tonight.

Amid his ongoing recovery from a long-term spell on the sidelines through injury, the Belgian international was in from the off for the third La Liga gameweek in succession.

And, once again, Courtois went on to thoroughly impress…

Looking like he hasn’t missed a step after an eight-month spell on the treatment table, the former Chelsea man simply refused to be beaten.

Whilst the eventual 5-0 scoreline looks an altogether one-sided one, the visiting Alavés had their chances over the course of the 90 minutes.

On each occasion he was required, however, Courtois produced the goods, conjuring up a number of top-class saves on his way to a total of 10 (yes, TEN) stops.

And, in the process, he delivered a fresh message to manager Carlo Ancelotti.

It is of course common knowledge that the situation between the posts has emerged as a major dilemma for the coaching staff at Real Madrid over the last couple of weeks.

As much comes ahead of the fast-approaching Champions League final.

Whilst Andriy Lunin previously looked the nailed-on starter for the Wembley showcase, Courtois’ recent brilliance has seen claims mount that he could replace Los Blancos’ starring no.2 against Borussia Dortmund on June 1st.
