Chelsea have been handed a boost after Arne Slot confirmed he will rotate his Liverpool team ahead of the big clash at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues host the newly crowned Premier League champions on Sunday in a game described as “huge” by former star Joe Cole.

Brentford did Chelsea a favour by beating Nottingham Forest on Thursday night, with the Blues now fifth on goal difference and in the final Champions League spot with four games remaining.

Slot confirms Liverpool will rotate against Chelsea

Liverpool is never an easy game, but with the Reds winning the title last weekend it potentially makes it a slightly easier proposition than it otherwise might have been.

Chelsea will still need to find a level of performance they’ve arguably not found over the second half of the campaign if they are to get the three points.

Enzo Maresca rotated his squad well in the Conference League on Thursday with a number of key players only playing 45 minutes, and they have been handed a potential boost after Slot’s latest comments.

“My lineups will be different from what we’ve had mostly during the last 10 months,” he said as cited on X.com.

“We’re not going to change everyone, but there will be some players that come into the team. There will be a certain rotation in the upcoming games.

“That’s not to say we are going to lose them, we have a lot of trust in the players who are going to play now.”

Chelsea lost the reverse fixture at Anfield earlier this year, but gave a good account of themselves, with Slot praising their performance.

Champions League race set to go to the wire

With four games to go there are just four points separating third and sixth, with Manchester City in third having played a game more.

Qualification is in Chelsea’s hands and after Liverpool they face a tough trip to Newcastle before finishing the season with games against Manchester United and Forest.

Maresca’s job is said to be safe for now, but you never know with Chelsea and if the Blues miss out on Champions League football you couldn’t completely rule a change out.
