There is still no timeline for Havertz spell on the sidelines

Arsenal have been dealt a fresh setback with Kai Havertz sidelined by injury, leaving uncertainty over when the German forward will return to full fitness. The issue arose during the club’s opening match of the season against Manchester United, in which Havertz made only a brief cameo appearance before being forced out.

The timing of the injury is particularly frustrating, as the Gunners were preparing for their next fixture against Leeds United when it was confirmed that Havertz would not be available. His absence is a blow to Mikel Arteta’s plans, especially given the growing competition for attacking roles within the squad.

Havertz’s Situation and Arsenal’s Striking Options

Havertz is contending with significant pressure for game time, with Viktor Gyökeres now regarded as Arsenal’s first-choice striker following his arrival at the Emirates. The German international was determined to prove his worth and fight for a regular place in the side, but his progress has been halted by this early-season setback.

His situation is made more difficult by the fact that Gabriel Jesus is also unavailable through injury, leaving Gyökeres as the club’s only fit senior striker. While Arsenal see Havertz as a valuable squad option who can provide depth across attacking roles, his increasing susceptibility to injuries has raised questions about his long-term reliability. For the time being, Arteta must find solutions with limited resources in attack.

No Clear Timeline for Recovery

According to The Sun, there is currently no timeline for Havertz’s return. The uncertainty was echoed by Germany’s national team director, Rudi Völler, who explained: “He certainly won’t make it [international break next month], he has a knee injury. We don’t know exactly how it will go in the coming weeks, whether surgery is upcoming or it will be treated conservatively.”

This lack of clarity over his recovery will be a concern for both Arsenal and the German national team, as decisions still need to be made about the best course of treatment. The club will be hoping for positive updates in the coming weeks, as squad depth will be vital across a long and demanding season.

For now, Arsenal must manage without Havertz and Jesus, relying heavily on Gyökeres to lead the line while awaiting further news on their recovery timelines.
