Arsenal remain in discussions with FC Porto over the future of Jakub Kiwior, with the defender potentially set for a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer. The Gunners are now believed to have sufficient depth in defence following recent additions, which has opened the door for the Poland international to depart.

Kiwior has largely been considered Arsenal’s primary back-up option in central defence and has performed reliably whenever called upon. His versatility and calm presence on the ball earned him credit among supporters and staff alike. However, the recent signing of Cristhian Mosquera has altered the balance in the squad and pushed Kiwior further down the pecking order.

In the last two transfer windows, Arsenal resisted approaches for the 24-year-old and refused to sanction his departure. This stance now appears to have softened, and the club are prepared to explore potential deals.

Porto Pushing for a Loan

Negotiations are ongoing with FC Porto, who are eager to secure Kiwior on loan for the remainder of the season. The Portuguese side views him as an important addition to strengthen their defensive options, and talks between the two clubs have gathered pace in recent days.

The defender himself is said to be open to the move, seeing it as an opportunity to play more consistently at a high level in European football. While all parties are interested in reaching an agreement, progress has slowed in recent rounds of discussion.

Salary the Key Obstacle

According to Give Me Sport, negotiations have stalled because Porto wants Arsenal to contribute towards Kiwior’s wages during the loan spell. The Gunners, however, are reluctant to cover any part of his salary, leading to the current impasse.

Both clubs remain in contact, and there is hope that a compromise can be reached before the transfer window closes. Arsenal’s position reflects their determination to ensure that any deal makes financial sense, especially at a time when they are carefully managing their wage bill and squad numbers.

Kiwior has proven himself a dependable squad member during his time in North London, but Arsenal’s priority remains strengthening their overall squad structure. If Porto is to secure his services, they will likely need to adjust their stance on financial terms.
