Pep Guardiola has entered unprecedented – and unwanted – territory after Manchester City’s home humbling against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.

Defeat to Spurs was a fifth consecutive loss in all competitions for the Premier League champions, the first time Guardiola has suffered such streak in his coaching career.

The manner of the loss has stunned English football, as Spurs ran riot on the counter to record a 4-0 win at the Etihad. It’s the heaviest home defeat of Guardiola’s time at Manchester City and the joint-biggest defeat of his managerial career.

Guardiola’s side’s run of form has left City off the pace in the Premier League title race, while only Aston Villa have conceded more goals of team’s currently in the top half. It also followed a 4-1 defeat at Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League earlier this month.

The optimism that surrounded the Spaniard’s new contract this week was erased quickly by a fine performance from Spurs, as hoards of fans headed for the exits early at the Etihad.

Following the shock loss, we’ve ranked Pep Guardiola’s biggest defeats.
