In the early window, first met second as Manchester City and Liverpool shared the points at the Etihad Stadium to allow Arsenal a chance to reclaim the top spot.

Mikel Arteta’s side pulled off a dramatic victory away to Brentford, with Kai Havertz scoring in the dying minutes to send them to the top of the league.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s apparent turnaround seems to have been a flash in the pan as Newcastle put four past the Blues in an almighty thumping at St. James’s Park.

You can read through all of the results here.

Brighton just seem to pluck these young stars from nowhere don’t they?

João Pedro is just the latest member of Roberto De Zerbi’s side to begin his launch towards stardom in the Premier League, and a brace against Nottingham Forest will help his cause.

The Brazilian now has five goal contributions in 13 Premier League games, but has really made his mark in the Europa League, where he has a staggering four goals in four games in Brighton’s first ever European campaign.

Is he the next Seagull to be hunted by one of the big boys?

Jérémy Doku continues to make waves in the Premier League after joining Manchester City from Ligue 1 in the summer.

The Belgian was sensational on the ball once again against Liverpool Saturday afternoon, completing 11 successful dribbles against the Reds, the most any player has completed in a single game this season.

Furthermore, the winger became the first player to complete 40 or more take-ons in the Premier League in 2023/24, and he’s doing it in record time.

What this means

With Arsenal’s win away to Brentford, and a stalemate between the Premier League’s top-two, the league standings have been shaken up with Arsenal leaping to the top of the pile.

For Chelsea however, their fifth loss of the young campaign means the Blues sit in 10th, 14 points off of the top.

Meanwhile down at the bottom of the table, another loss for Burnley means Vincent Kompany’s men remain bottom with just one win from their opening 13 games.

What they said

Vincent Kompany: “There’s no other way to say it. Today was a tough one to take but I’ve mentioned it before, it’s still a universal recipe, you’ve got to get back up and keep going.”

Mauricio Pochettino: “But it was really easy in the way that we conceded and the way that we were so soft in every single challenge. We didn’t show that we were playing for something important.

What comes next?

Well, more Premier League football thankfully.

Everton take on Manchester United at Goodison Park on Sunday, their first game since recieving a 10-point deduction for Financial Fair Play breaches.

Tottenham will take on a resurgent Aston Villa, as Ange Postecoglou’s men look to rediscover their early season form, albeit with an injury crisis to deal with.
