Enzo Maresca has spoken to the media ahead of Chelsea’s Club World Cup final today, and was asked if he had a message for the supporters.
He did.
“The message is that we need their support. The team deserves all the trust from the supporters, because during this season we finished in the top four in the Premier League, won the Conference League and have played in the Club World Cup all the way to the final. It’s been a great season,” the coach said, reeling off his Chelsea CV for anyone who had forgotten.
Tonight’s final against PSG is the biggest game of them all, and while it certainly was a great season in the end, we’re 90 minutes away from something even more special. It won’t be easy – and some think it’s not even possible. But that’s exactly why it would be such a big deal to beat the European Champions.
The players sound mentally locked in, and they’re on such a confidence high after a couple of months of good results in a row.

Maresca was also asked to look back on the season and say what he was most proud of, and in the end it wasn’t the trophy he won, it was the way he had changed perceptions around Chelsea:
“For me, the biggest achievement of this season is that exactly one year ago nobody was talking about Chelsea and our football,” the coach said.
“They were talking about a big squad and other things. Now nobody is talking about those things. Now when people are talking about Chelsea it is about the way we win games, and personally that is the biggest achievement of the season.”
He will hope that, come Monday, there’s an even more impressive achievement for people to be talking about.
