The start of the 2024-25 season has once again highlighted the excellence of La Masia. Being unable to count on some of their most important players due to injuries, and unable to get their desired players from the market due to their financial problems, FC Barcelona decided to bet on the academy talent once again this season.

This decision has turned out to be a very rewarding one as the youngster have played at a very high level, and have played a key role in keeping the Blaugranes competitive.

One of these youngsters who has not been able to play a very prominent role this season, mainly due to injury, has been Fermin Lopez. As SPORT has reported, Lopez appeared in the press conference ahead of the match against Red Star Belgrade and highlighted the role of La Masia in the club’s success.

The young midfielder was clear that La Masia is the best academy in the world: “Barça has the best youth academy in the world… In the youth system, they prepare us very well. We’re performing at a high level when we make it to the first team.”

The midfielder went on to highlight how La Masia is still important to him: “I grew up in La Masia. Those people are my family, and I love them very much. We help each other, and that shows on the field. La Masia is very important for Barça.”

Lopez also highlighted the role of Hansi Flick in the good level shown by the team: “Flick deserves a lot of credit for the team’s level. The coach gives us confidence, helps us, and we’re achieving great results. We’re a very strong team, and we need to keep it up.”

There is no doubt that youngsters like Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Marc Casado, and Alejandro Balde have been key for Barcelona at the start of this season. Their performances go on to highlight the good work being done at La Masia.
