Marcus Rashford’s agent, Dwaine Maynard, ‘held exploratory talks’ with AC Milan yesterday regarding a potential loan switch for the out-of-favour Manchester United star, as per The Athletic.
It came after the Serie A giants defeated rivals Inter Milan 3-2 in the Italian Super Cup; the tie being held in Saudi Arabia meant that club officials were unable to thoroughly engage in the discussions as they were making their way back to Italy.
Earlier on Tuesday, David Ornstein revealed that Milan were joined by Juventus and Borussia Dortmund in the race to seal Rashford’s signature, though none are looking to sign him on a permanent transfer mid-season, which would perhaps suit United more.
Otherwise, Ruben Amorim is left with one less forward option for the second half of the campaign and no funds to pursue a replacement.

Rashford has not featured for his boyhood club, whom he joined at the age of seven, since December 12. He was restored to the matchday squad for last week’s defeat to Newcastle United, but only due to the lack of players available following Bruno Fernandes’ and Manuel Ugarte’s one-game suspensions.
Gianluca Di Marzio adds that Milan have made a loan proposal to United that includes an option to buy, giving both sides some control over his situation come the summer.
Any fee generated from the 27-year-old’s permanent departure would aid the board’s quest to stay within the league’s financial restrictions by producing pure profit to balance the books.
In 426 appearances for the first-team, the Wythenshawe-born forward has scored 138 goals. It remains to be seen if he’ll get the chance to add to his tally again – or if the curtains have already been pulled on his Red Devils career.
