FLW takes a look at which Charlton Athletic players are set to be out of contract this summer.
Charlton Athletic have a few players that are set to be out of contract in 2025.
The Addicks moved a number of players on during the January transfer window, and as things stand, there are going to be a few more that depart The Valley in the summer unless they agree fresh terms before then.
Tayo Edun joined Peterborough United, Rarmani Edmonds-Green signed for Leyton Orient, Dan Potts left upon the expiry of his short-term deal, Nathan Asiimwe linked up with Walsall on loan, Terry Taylor was sent to Northampton Town on loan, Zach Mitchell headed to St Johnstone on loan, and Allan Campbell had his loan spell in SE7 cut short before moving to Dundee United, as Nathan Jones looked to streamline his squad last month.
Charlton also made a couple of signings on deadline day, as creative midfielder Alex Gilbert joined the club on loan from Championship side Middlesbrough until the end of the season, while Portsmouth defender Tom McIntyre also made a temporary switch to The Valley and will see out the campaign in South East London.
However, perhaps the most important piece of business that Charlton completed in January was to tie Lloyd Jones down to a new contract. The Addicks' vice-captain, who has been nominated for the League One Player of the Month award for his performances last month, was set to be out of contract in the summer.
Now, Nathan Jones may have one eye on the other players in his squad who will be out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 season.
If Charlton supporters could choose one player to sign a new contract between now and the end of the season, there is no doubt that it would be Thierry Small.
The 20-year-old wing-back has been highly impressive during the Addicks' improved run of form lately, with his ability to carry the ball and take on opposing full-backs making him one of the most dangerous players in Jones' squad.
Small admitted that he would love to stay at The Valley beyond this season, but it remains to be seen whether his representatives can reach an agreement with the League One club, especially after Championship outfit Preston North End were believed to be taking an interest last month.
Physical striker Chuks Aneke is another player who is set to be out of contract at The Valley in the summer.
The 31-year-old is usually called upon to make an impact from the bench by Nathan Jones, as his fitness record means it is too risky to play him from the start.
That injury record may well be the reason that Aneke is not offered a new deal and leaves at the end of the season, although there is definitely a case to be made that he could be worth keeping at the club if a significantly reduced contract can be agreed.
Tennai Watson has been sidelined by an injury for much of the season so far, which is the last thing he would have wanted in the final year of his contract at Charlton.
The 27-year-old has returned to fitness, but given the form of Small and Kayne Ramsay, he may need to be patient and wait for any opportunity to show that he is worthy of a new deal.
Aaron Henry had his loan spell at National League side Rochdale cut short earlier this season after he picked up a long-term injury.
The 21-year-old has been highly-rated during his rise through the academy, and has made a respectable number of appearances for the first-team, but it will be interesting to see whether he is handed a new contract before his current deal expires in the summer.
