Tennis legend Rafael Nadal, a well-known Real Madrid supporter, has shared his thoughts on the remaining stages of the Champions League, identifying his top contenders for the prestigious trophy.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion acknowledged Barcelona’s impressive form this season but remained confident in the resilience and determination of Real Madrid.
While a final between the two Spanish giants would be an intense showdown, Nadal believes that “for Spanish football, it would be the bomb.”
Although he recognises Barcelona as a strong competitor, he does not see them as outright favourites to lift the Champions League trophy.
“There are teams like PSG, Bayern Munich, Inter, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Real Madrid, who have won the tournament 15 times.
“So, I wouldn’t talk about Barcelona as a big favourite. I would speak of Barcelona as a great candidate,” he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
Despite not placing Barcelona as the leading favourite, Nadal praised the Catalan club’s performances this season, highlighting their ability to compete at the highest level.

Their style of play has been outstanding, and they have established themselves as clear contenders for every title.
However, he also made it clear that Real Madrid should never be counted out, given their history of thriving in high-pressure situations.
“It is true that Barcelona are playing spectacular football, with an incredible season. They are clear contenders for everything.
“No one has given Real Madrid up for dead and they will fight for everything until the end and we will see what happens.”
As the season reaches its decisive phase, anything can happen. The impact of injuries, a congested fixture schedule, and unpredictable moments could shape the outcome of the tournament.
Nadal believes that both Barcelona and Real Madrid will push until the very end, making for an exciting climax to the competition.
“Anything can happen. You are in the final stretch of the season, injuries, tough schedule and anything can happen,” he noted.
