After their shock win in extra-time on Friday night, FC Den Bosch fans can now look ahead to a play-off semi-final against Telstar. The side with one of the smallest budgets in the Dutch second tier shocked Ado Den Haag with a 3-0 aggregate win, which included a 1-0 away win. The away leg took place on Saturday afternoon and had to be abandoned late on after crowd trouble. Telstar were awarded the win and a unlikely promotion to the Eredivisie remains a possibility.
The sides who finished at the bottom of the play-offs both managed to shock the two sides who finished in third and fourth. For Cambuur, who lost to Den Bosch, it was certainly unlucky. The side dominated the home leg on Friday night but were unable to stop the game going to extra-time. On another night, Cambuur would have won 5-0, but instead they ended up losing in extra-time.
Both Den Haag and Cambuur finished within four points of promoted Excelsior but will now be facing yet another season in the Dutch second tier. For Telstar and Den Bosch, the winner of the clash will likely face Willem II or one of Dordrecht/De Graafschap in a promotion play-off final.
