West Ham continue to make efforts but struggle to execute this January transfer window.

It’s a window which has seen much turmoil in east London, with the club having to part ways with the disastrous Julen Lopetegui, however Graham Potter presents a shining light as the club seek to get the season on track.

So pressure is on to deliver, however the strategy this transfer window so far has left many confused as to what the gameplan is.

Club insider ExWHUEmployee of The West Ham Way has provided an update on where things stand at present.

“Dan Neil of Sunderland has been identified as a top player in the Championship alongside many other players who we have identified before,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon. “Neil joins a number of his teammates Jobe Bellingham and Romain Mundale, Chris Rigg, Eliezer Mayenda at Sunderland. Tom fellows at WBA, Ollie Arblaster Sheffield United, Matteo Joseph of Leeds although it is thought these will be summer targets.

“It isn’t thought that anything is close to happening yet with Neil as Sunderland are not willing to sell as they push for promotion to the Premier League.”

Ex also has provided an update on our pursuit of a new striker, with an indication that a move for Andre Silva of RB Leipzig is an option looking more likely that others at present.

“We had continued our talks with Andre Silva over a loan move to the summer,” said Ex. “The loan deal would potentially have an option at the end of it to make the deal permanent.

“Talks will continue today but at the moment other options are being considered as well. As I’ve been saying for a while now I think this is the easiest deal to complete and one we may chose to do as a temporary measure that could turn out to be a bargain.”

Ezechiel Banzuzi is another player which has appeared at times within the media to be close to securing, however it appears talks are still ongoing with the club trying to strike a deal to land the midfielder.

“We submitted a bid two weeks ago which was rejected with his club saying they didn’t want to sell him until the summer and would demand a lot of money for him to move now,” stated Ex. “Karen Brady was thought to have taken a lead with this transfer and has continued with talks with the players agent.

“We have remained in contact with the club and talks have continued without a formal bid being proposed or of course accepted since the original offer. This is a transfer that could be revisited again soon.

“An alternative option has been identified but their situation is a complex one. This is another exclusive link we have revealed and another you won’t find reported elsewhere (but will be soon).. The player in question is Dário Essugo.

“The 19 year old Portuguese under 21s player is currently on loan at UD Las Palmas from Sporting. This obviously complicates the move. The club could offer to buy him from Sporting and in turn his loan be cancelled at Las Palmas. The player is very highly rated and has had apparent interest from Chelsea, Manchester United and Leeds in resent times.

“The club believe he is a talented prospect whose value will only go up and see him as an alternative to Banzuzi.”
