Swansea City are set to benefit from Joel Piroe's promotion to the Premier League with Leeds United

Swansea City will be pocketing a healthy cash injection following Leeds United's promotion to the Premier League as part of the deal that took Joel Piroe from South Wales to Elland Road nearly two years ago.

That's according to a recent update from BBC Sport, where it has been reported that the Welsh side will be paid a seven-figure sum in the wake of Leeds' promotion.

The Whites booked their ticket back to the Premier League at the second time of asking on Easter Monday, romping to a 6-0 thrashing of Stoke City courtesy of a four-goal haul from Piroe himself before seeing promotion sealed through Sheffield United's 2-1 defeat to Burnley.

Leeds, of course, came agonisngly close to promotion last season, losing out to Russell Martin's Southampton in a cagey play-off final defeat. This time around, though, they have managed to push over the line under Daniel Farke and that could just help Swansea heading into the 2025/26 campaign.

As per the aforementioned report, Swansea are set to bank a sum to the tune of £2 million after Leeds' promotion was confirmed yesterday evening.

Piroe joined Leeds from Swansea two years ago in a deal worth in excess of £10 million, which also included a clause for Swans to receive an additional payment of £2 million if the Whites gained promotion at any stage during the Dutch forward's four-year contract.

The Whites frontman remains fondly remembered at the Swansea.com Stadium to this day, having hit the 20-goal mark in each of his two campaigns with the club before joining Leeds.

Piroe has enjoyed inspired form for the Premier League-bound outfit this term and took his tally up to 19 for the season after scoring four times in the win over Stoke.

It's unclear just how much of that fee, if any of it at all, will be reinvested into the playing squad, but Leeds' promotion - and Piroe's form to help them to that stage - is undoubtedly going to be beneficial for Swans in one way or another.

The financial purse-strings have been tightened at Swansea in recent years, so this will be a welcome boost.

Supporters will naturally want to see that figure pushed back into bolstering the squad during the summer transfer window as Swansea bid to build on the mid-table finish that will be sealed this term and compete for a play-off spot next time out, but even if the hierarchy decide to use that money elsewhere, it should still have some sort of benefit around the club.
