Rosenborg BK prodigy Sverre Nypan is not letting interest from Manchester United mess with his head.
Nypan has emerged as the latest top talent to make headlines in Norwegian football with his exploits at Rosenborg, wherein he has established himself as a first-team regular at just 17.
Dubbed the ‘next Martin Odegaard’, the young midfielder has raised eyebrows with his creative prowess and technical security in possession.
United have seen their name linked with the talent all summer and as per a report, recently covered by The Peoples Person, the Premier League giants plan to follow his progress during the season before knocking on Rosenborg’s doors next summer.
According to Norway’s TV2 (via Sport Witness), United had a scout in attendance for Rosenborg’s clash against Lillestrøm SK on Sunday. Nypan started the game and was taken off after 70 minutes in his side’s 1-1 draw.
Apart from United, Bayer Leverkusen also sent a scout to monitor the highly-rated midfielder.
The presence of United and Leverkusen’s officials led to TV2 asking Nypan if he “cares about it.”
The young midfielder insisted: “No, to be completely honest. The only thing I care about is getting back to the form I was in before the illness.
“It’s been a bit heavy. From playing very good matches, to getting sick. It’s so typical that when things go well, you get sick. That’s life, but now it’s about building up, but it takes time.”
The club’s manager Alfred Johansson praised Nypan’s attitude, stating: “He focuses on enjoying football and training every day. It’s very impressive, and that’s how it should be, but not everyone would have been able to do it. That is strong of Sverre.”
Despite a minor fitness hiccup, the Norwegian sensation has enjoyed an encouraging season with Rosenborg, having scored five goals and registered nine assists in 25 appearances across all competition.
Apart from Nypan, United’s recruitment team is also following Croatian midfield prospect Martin Baturina, who is currently impressing for Dinamo Zagreb.
