For the time being, Suning are still Inter owners.

The Chinese company are still the majority shareholders in the Nerazzurri. And technically, US fund Oaktree cannot repossess their shares in the club just yet.

Suning have until the end of today to repay their debt to Oaktree in full.

Were the Inter owners to do so, then Oaktree would not be able to repossess their shares in the club, which were collateral for the loan that the latter made in the spring of 2021.

However, Suning do not have any options left to repay their debt to Oaktree.

The Inter owners had been in talks with another US fund in the form of PIMCO. These were to try and secure a loan that would refinance their debt to Oaktree.

But those negotiations broke down.

Suning Have Not Asked Oaktree For Extension On Inter Milan Loan

Suning were not only in talks with PIMCO.

There were also reports of an ongoing dialogue between Inter and Oaktree regarding the possibility of an extension.

This would only be a short-term extension of months, or a year. The purpose would be to give the Inter owners time in which to sell the club.

However, Suning preferred to go the PIMCO route.

Now that that has failed, one final last-ditch solution could be for Suning to try and get an emergency extension from Oaktree.

This would only be a very short-term solution. And the explicit aim would be the sale of Inter.

But according to Tuttosport, Suning have made no requests of this nature.

The Nerazzurri owners will allow Oaktree to begin their takeover of the club this week.
