It just caught my eye, I hadn’t realised Sunderland had played a pre-season friendly against Gateshead.

I wish I’d known, as I would have probably gone along.

If I had known how that Gateshead v Sunderland friendly was going to turn out, then I definitely would have gone along!

A Sunderland first team (not reserves) finding themselves going a goal down after around a quarter of an hour with Oseni scoring for Gateshead.

The Mackems only getting an equaliser due to a penalty, with Oseni then scoring his second goal just before half-time to give Gateshead the lead again.

That was the way it stayed but I was interested/amused to see that Sunderland first-team keeper Anthony Patterson was man of the match for the Mackems, due to the fact he kept the score down and avoided an even heavier embarrassing defeat for Sunderland!

The Sunderland fan site Roker Report gave Patterson 7 out of 10 and declared ‘No chance with either goal but stopped the score getting worse’…

Just over three weeks until Sunderland kick off their Championship season at Cardiff, sounds like the mackems’ new manager.

From February 2022 onwards, Regis Le Bris is now Sunderland’s fifth managerial appointment, sounds as if he has got a bit of a job on to last very long.
