This news was revealed by Fabrizio Romano, who took to X to reveal this news after it had emerged that Bellingham had put pen to paper on a new deal to extend his stay at the Wearside club.

The Black Cats looked set to receive offers for Bellingham this summer following his solid first campaign at the Stadium of Light, with the England youth international being given plenty of opportunities to start during the 2023/24 campaign.

And he was able to repay the faith that was placed in him, with the 18-year-old registering plenty of goals and establishing himself as a key threat in the final third on Wearside.

He also recorded an assist on the opening day of the season against Cardiff City, supplying the ball through for Jack Clarke to weave his way through the Bluebirds' box and fire the ball into the back of the net.

And if he can continue to contribute in the final third, it will only be a matter of time before Bellingham attracts more interest from top-flight teams.

However, the Black Cats strengthened their negotiating stance on the teenager in the past 24 hours, with the player putting pen to paper on a new contract.

Bellingham attracted interest during the summer - and it has been revealed by transfer insider Romano that the attacking midfielder had proposals on the table from both the Bees and the Eagles.

The Bees have been in the Premier League for a while under Thomas Frank now - and have retained Ivan Toney - which could boost their chances of doing well during the 2024/25 season.

Bellingham could have arrived as another attacking asset, but a move to the English capital doesn't seem to be on the horizon for the 18-year-old now.

Palace, like the Bees, have benefitted hugely from recruiting players from the EFL.

Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton are currently thriving following their moves from QPR and Blackburn Rovers - and Michael Olise signed for Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

Jobe Bellingham makes Sunderland claim after signing contract extension

The teenager clearly thinks his time at the Stadium of Light isn't done just yet, judging by his comments to the Black Cats' media team after putting pen to paper on a new deal.

He said: "I’m buzzing to sign this contract and extend my stay at Sunderland. I feel like I have a lot of unfinished business and I believe we can achieve some great things this season.

"This is such an amazing city and I’m so proud to represent the people within it. Everyone has made me feel right at home and I couldn’t imagine playing for a Club where it didn’t mean as much as it does to our fans.

"I enjoy playing for Sunderland and I can’t wait to get back to the Stadium of Light this weekend."

Jobe Bellingham has made the right decision on his Sunderland future

Bellingham needs to prioritise game time at this stage of his career.

It could be argued that at just 18, the player can afford to spend some time on the sidelines.

But as a player with his potential, he will want to be playing as much as possible.

He isn't guaranteed that game time in the top flight, so remaining with the Wearside club for now is the right decision, with the player likely to continue starting regularly at the SoL for the foreseeable future.

This new deal, which lasts until 2028, should also allow him to focus on what's happening on the pitch, which can only aid his development.
