Having already lost German midfield talent Tom Bischof to Bayern Munich, Hoffenheim appear poised to lose another promising homegrown player to a different Bundesliga club. Kicker reports that VfB Stuttgart are preparing to sign 16-year-old Neno Žeželj away from the TSG U17s.
The teenage talent has scored a whopping 12 goals and contributed 11 assists in the DFB Youth League this year. Capped thrice at the Germany U17 level, Žeželj will move from Sinsheim to the Baden-Württemberg capital for a low-six-figure sum.
Such a move counts as another unfortunate failure for the beleaguered TSG managerial team. New sporting director Andreas Schicker could not convince the 19-year-old Bischof to extend his expiring deal with any specific promises of growth with his academy side.
Žeželj primary works as an attacking midfielder but has also found success working on the right wing. He’s been playing for TSG’s youth team since 2019 and is considered one of the most talented players nationwide in his age group.
