Florian Plettenberg reports that VfB Stuttgart remain optimistic about sealing the deal to capture Greek attacking midfielder Giannis Konstantelias. Despite the fact that the VfB and PAOK remain deadlocked over the transfer fee, negotiations could stretch out for another few weeks but the 22-year-old should still seal a move to the Bundesliga.
Stuttgart presently find themselves in a concurrent set of difficult negotiations over FC Nürnberg midfielder Caspar Jander. The VfB front office also actively pursues young Egyptian prospect Belal Ateya. Egyptian website FilGoal reports that the 17-year-old has been invited to partake in a one-week trial session at Stuttgart’s training camp between July 27th and August 2nd.
Precisely how much administrative vigor VfB board-member-for-sport Fabian Wohlgemuth can devote to personnel matters remains unclear. Stuttgart also find themselves mired in a tight race to sign developmental prospect Deniz Zeitler of FC Ingolstadt 04. The 2024/25 DFB-Pokal champions must build a squad fit for Europe ahead of the coming campaign.
At present, the Württembergers are operating with an estimated negative summer transfer balance of -€13.5m after the record deal to bring in defender Lorenz Assignion. Stuttgart have managed to sign young 18-year-old talents such as Noah Darvich and Lazar Jovanovic. Wohlgemuth and staff will clearly need to prioritize capturing more solid first team players.
