Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Mallorca will be remembered for more than just the three points. It marked the dream debut of 20-year-old defender Jacobo Ramon, who not only made his first La Liga appearance but also scored a dramatic 95th-minute winner to seal the victory.

What makes the moment even more extraordinary is how it began. Just seconds into the match, Jacobo slipped in a one-on-one against Mallorca’s forward Cyle Larin, a nightmare start for any young defender.

But instead of collapsing under pressure, he rose to the occasion, both literally and metaphorically.

As he got back on his feet, he found Dani Ceballos offering calming words, Federico Valverde urging him to continue, and the rest of the Madrid team backing him with full confidence, as though he’d been a regular part of the squad all season.

There are numbers to support

From that shaky start, Jacobo built a performance that could not have ended on a higher note.

He completed 45 passes out of 45 attempts, a flawless 100% passing accuracy. He was arguably Real Madrid’s best defender on the night with two tackles, two interceptions and five clearances and also played one key pass.

Then came the moment of magic in stoppage time. With the score level at 1-1 and the game appearing destined for a draw, Jacobo found himself in the right place at the right time. He fired the ball into the net to send the Bernabeu into euphoria.

“I don’t even know how, but I scored it,” he said after the match, visibly shaking from the adrenaline rush. “This is inexplicable. I’ve dreamed of this all my life. This shirt is until the end, and there’s no better way to score my first goal than like this.”

Emotional moment for the youngster

His celebration was just as emotional, hand clutching the Real Madrid badge, finger pointing to the crest, as if to say, this is where I belong.

Jesus Vallejo stayed by his side throughout the celebration, Arda Guler leapt on him, and soon the whole squad joined, including a gentle congratulatory caress from Kylian Mbappe.

A final embrace with Gonzalo Garcia rounded off the scene, before Jacobo spotted youth teammates Víctor Munoz and David Jimenez on the sidelines, both in disbelief at what their friend had just accomplished.
