In the Championship, there was a full fixture of midweek games, across both Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Therefore, there was plenty of action for Spurs loanees.

How Spurs loanees did in the Championship did across midweek

On Tuesday evening, Yang Min-hyeok was named in the Queens Park Rangers starting XI for their trip to the North East to face Middlesbrough – whom are managed by former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Michael Carrick. As tends to be the case, he started on the right hand side in a 4231 formation by QPR manager Marti Cifuentes.

After just 11 minutes, the hosts took the lead, which was enough to give them a 1-0 lead heading into the break. Then, just before the hour mark, they doubled their lead. Ten minutes before full time, QPR got a goal back, but it was in vain – as they were condemned to a 2-1 defeat.

As for Min-hyeok himself, he was replaced at half-time. It was not his best performance for the R’s, though he did create a big chance during his time on the pitch – that was indeed sadly not taken, depriving him of an assist. Still, that was his fourth start during his time in West London so far.

This defeat leaves QPR in 14th place in the Championship, with 44 points from their 37 games so far this campaign.

Meanwhile, Will Lankshear was again named as a substitute by West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray, as they faced Burnley away from home, facing another former Spurs midfielder in Scott Parker.

After 20 minutes of the game, West Brom took the lead – just the 11th league goal their hosts had conceded in their 37 games this season. However, three minutes later Parker’s side managed to equalise. Those two goals in quick succession proved to be the only two goals of the game, as the Baggies picked up an impressive point on the road.

As for Lankshear, he only played for 16 minutes – where he did not register a single shot, and picked up a booking. He has played just 143 minutes during his loan spell so far -  and has had just two shots in that time. A real struggle. He was very unlucky in the fact that on deadline day, West Brom signed Adam Armstrong on loan from Southampton – a player that Mowbray had a lot of success with at Blackburn Rovers.

This draw takes Lankshear’s side from sixth to fifth in the Championship, with 56 points from their 37 games so far.

Finally, on Wednesday night, Ashley Phillips and his Stoke City side were in action at home to Blackburn Rovers – the boyhood club of the defender. As usual, the 19-year old was named in the starting XI by manager Mark Robins.

After 19 minutes of the game, Stoke took the lead. This goal proved enough to be the difference, as the Potters held on for an absolutely huge 1-0 win, despite some late pressure from their visitors. This was their first win in six games, and second in their last nine.

These three points leave Stoke in 19th place in the league, with 39 points from their 37 games – four points above the relegation zone.
