Ange Postecoglou says Ben Davies will miss the game against Manchester City with an injury.
The defender was absent for the win over Ipswich with a knock and Postecoglou confirmed he is not yet ready to return.
“No, he’s been carrying a knock for a little while and to be fair he’s played through it,” Postecoglou said when asked if he would be available.
“But I’ve said before this is a key period and I want as many players in the best possible condition and after this game we have a seven-day break which leads into Europe, league, Europe, league and those games are massive for us.
“I don’t see need to push. He hasn’t re-injured. He’s just been carrying something that I don’t want to push at the moment.”
Postecoglou did, however, reveal that Timo Werner is back in contention having recovered from a hamstring problem and clarified that he was not involved against Ipswich due to squad selection.
“No he was only really available for the weekend, but because of make-up of squad, I put in Sergio Reguilon as another defender,” Postecoglou said. “He has trained and is available for tomorrow.”
There are no fresh injury concerns for Spurs but they will still be without Cristian Romero, Micky Van de Ven, Dominic Solanke, Richarlison as they recover from injuries.
But in a positive update, Postecoglou says he hopes to have all of them back involved in the coming week to ten days.
“It will be the same as the weekend squad wise,” Postecoglou said.
“Everyone got through the weekend well with no issues from it.
“With the injured guys, nothing has really changed. They’re still progressing and training on off and with us and hopefully over the next seven to ten days will be their reintroduction.”
Radu Dragusin remains out for the long term with an ACL injury.
