Spurs given huge injury boost ahead of Sunday

Earlier this week, there had been optimism about a number of players being on the brink of returning to first team action, after lengthy spells on the sidelines. Now, we have receieved a seriously positive update from Ange Postecoglou.

In his press conference on Friday, Ange confirmed that goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, whom hasn't played for Spurs since the 23rd of November, with a surgery requiring ankle injury picked up in the 4-0 win over Manchester City, is back and available for selection for the visit of Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Not to pile in on Antonin Kinsky, whom has simply had some good and bad moments in a Spurs shirt - perfectly normal for a 21 year old goalkeeper - but this is clearly huge news. Just having Vicario back in goal should breed confidence in the back four. Players playing out of position, such as Archie Gray, will certainly appreciate having the Italian back between the sticks.

Furthermore, Ange also confirmed that James Maddison and Destiny Udogie have returned to training, and are expected to be available for selection. Two more massive pieces of good news for Spurs.

It is clear to see that Pedro Porro is absolutely shattered, and has played an absurd amount of football this season. He could clearly do with some rest. Having Udogie back will help that massively, with Spence able to move over to his more natural position of his right-back.

Then, as for Maddison - despite some harsh criticism from Roy Keane this week - has actually been really good this season, and still remains the club's top scorer in the Premier League, despite having missed some games. If he had started against Aston Villa, Spurs may well have managed to grab at least one more goal.

Even in the defeat at home to former club Leicester City, Maddison would have given Spurs more cutting edge, and perhaps would have at least drawn that game with him available (still would be a poor result, no doubt). He assisted Porro's goal in the reverse fixture back in August.

That too, and Kulusevski has also been clearly shattered in the last few weeks. Although he plays as a right sided central midfielder (when he does play in midfield), and Maddison left sided, having the latter back could allow the Sweden international to have some rest, with there now being less of a creative burden on him.

Huge news, let's see if they all start on Sunday. It feels like Vicario definitely will, but more up in the air with the other two - perhaps Maddison more likely than Udogie.
