Tottenham Hotspur are exploring the prospect of signing Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo this summer.

Spurs are assessing multiple midfield targets and Mainoo’s name has been discussed internally. The 20-year-old burst onto the scene during the 2023/24 campaign and impressed as England reached the final of Euro 2024 last summer.

However, Mainoo endured an injury-impacted downturn last season. Manchester United are not actively looking to sell the academy graduate, but Flashscore are reporting that Spurs are aware that significant offers would be considered.

United need to raise funds for further transfer business and Mainoo’s status as an academy player, alongside his lack of a clear role in Ruben Amorim’s system, has opened the prospect of a sale.

Thomas Frank is targeting players who can immediately improve the Spurs XI and, ideally, have Premier League experience.

A move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has stalled as Forest take legal action against the North Londoners for their approach.

Joao Palhinha is also an option for Spurs, after a tough time at Bayern Munich following his move from Fulham a year ago. Bayern would reportedly be prepared to sell the Portugal international for around half the £42m paid last summer.

Other names that have been discussed at Spurs are Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton and Brighton’s Carlos Baleba. However, neither side are prepared to sell and would demand huge fees for the duo.
