Harry Toffolo could be returning to the EFL this summer at the end of his Forest contract
Nottingham Forest left-back Harry Toffolo is on the radar of both Coventry City and Norwich City this summer, sources have informed Football League World.
Both the Sky Blues and the Canaries will spend the 2025-26 season in the Championship, with the former's recent campaign coming to a heartbreaking and dramatic end in the play-offs after a late defeat over two legs to Sunderland.
Norwich meanwhile are still managerless following the April sacking of Johannes Hoff Thorup, but despite that, the Norfolk outfit are still pressing ahead with looking at potential transfer targets this summer, and they're set to potentially rival Frank Lampard for one.
Sources have told FLW that Harry Toffolo is a transfer target for both Norwich and Coventry this coming summer, with the likelihood being that the 29-year-old will be available on a free transfer this summer - both clubs view him as a solid, experienced option to add to their respective squads.
Toffolo's contract at the City Ground comes to an end at the conclusion of the current campaign, and when Forest confirm their retained list when their Premier League season is done, the full-back is more likely than not to be exiting the Tricky Trees after three years.
That has piqued the interest of play-off semi-finalists Coventry, who currently have two senior left-backs on the books in the form
of Jake Bidwell and Jay Dasilva - both contracted at the CBS Arena until the summer of 2027.
Norwich meanwhile lost their regular starting left-back Callum Doyle back to Man City this summer, having completed his loan stint at Carrow Road, and the club appear to be on the lookout for a replacement.
And as it happens, Toffolo came through the academy of the Canaries, joining at under-14's level and going on to become professional, although he played just three times for the first-team before moving on in 2018 to Lincoln City.
Toffolo, who turns 30 in August, has played 102 times at Championship level for Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United, and was a part of the Terriers side that made it to the second tier play-off final in 2022 under Carlos Corberan, losing out to the club he ended up joining months later in Forest.
Toffolo was signed in a double deal by Forest in 2022 along with Lewis O'Brien, but he's struggled for game-time recently as Nuno Espirito Santo's side have chased European football.
He appeared 19 times in England's top flight during his debut season at Forest, and he was able to build on that in 2023-24 as he played in 23 matches - starting in 15 of those.
It is 2024-25 though where Toffolo has suffered, with just four Premier League outings, with a first start of the season belatedly coming in late April in a 2-1 away win over Tottenham.
With Forest set to bolster their squad ahead of their European adventures next season though, it appears that there's going to be no room in Nuno's plans for Toffolo, with Championship clubs looking to strike.
