Chelsea are very happy with Enzo Maresca and the players are believed to trust the manager according to Fabrizio Romano.

Maresca was appointed as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor last summer, and signed a five year deal after guiding Leicester City to the Championship title.

The 45-year-old made a brilliant start to life at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues found themselves in the title conversation in December when they sat second.

However, things have taken a dip since Christmas, with the Blues currently on a run of just three wins from their last 11 Premier League games.

Chelsea sit fifth in the league just two points behind third, but they are also just four points ahead of tenth in the fiercely contested race for Champions League qualification.

The Blues face a difficult task over the remainder of the season to secure Champions League football, although they will hope the return of their injured stars gives them the boost they need to finish the season strongly.

Maresca has stated the target is Champions League football, having previously said it wasn’t and he will be under pressure to deliver that.

Despite the difficult run of form, and reports emerging players could look to leave if the club don’t qualify for the Champions League, Romano has provided an update on how both players and club feel about the Italian.

“Owners, directors, and players too, are believed to trust the manager, see the potential for Chelsea’s future but also for Maresca to improve as a coach and become one of the very best in the industry,” he wrote in his GIVEMESPORT Column.

“The start was excellent, then the first few months of 2025 made it complicated, but sources at Chelsea insist on this point: Maresca is untouchable, a key part of the project with the club very happy to continue with him, no matter what happens in the final months.”

Only time will tell if Chelsea stick to their word, but the club really do need to stick with a manager for more than one season to build any continuity.
