Manchester United interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy provided a positive injury update on a group of players ahead of his final game against Leicester City.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Van Nistelrooy, whether he will move on or become part of Ruben Amorim’s staff, but his focus will be on securing three points on Sunday.
Van Nistelrooy revealed it won’t be long before Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro return to action after resuming training this week.
United have been without the defensive duo for the entire season.
Shaw had multiple setbacks after representing England at Euro 2024, despite not featuring in a competitive game for United since February.
Meanwhile, Yoro has yet to make a competitive appearance for United after suffering a fractured metatarsal during pre-season. The French starlet required surgery as a result.
Van Nistelrooy’s update will come as a boost for new head coach Amorim as it means he will have less players in the treatment room when he starts work on Monday.

During a press conference on Friday, ahead of United’s game against Leicester, Van Nistelrooy provided an update on his squad. He was optimistic United were slowly returning to full strength as Manuel Ugarte and Christian Eriksen picked up vital minutes in the game.
Van Nistelrooy said (via The Mirror): “Yesterday we had a lot of benefit from Christian playing 30 mins with Ugarte and Mason making his first minutes again, so glad they are back and for a little bit of a longer future that Luke and Leny are on the pitch.”
Amad, who scored two goals against PAOK on Thursday, came off with 10 minutes remaining after taking a knock. He is expected to be fit for the game on Sunday, while we will see Kobbie Mainoo return to action after the November international break.
“Amad was assessed, still working on him to get him ready for Sunday, so hopefully it will work and Kobbie is also progressing with his injury. He isn’t yet with the team, though. He needs more time.”
