Shocking footage has emerged capturing the Blades boss scrapping with Plymouth players after the full-time whistle at Home Park.
Shocking footage has emerged showing Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder tussling with Plymouth Argyle players in the Home Park tunnel after the full-time whistle on Saturday.
The Blades saw their automatic promotion hopes take a significant blow in Devon, as two late goals from Ryan Hardie and Muhamed Tijani secured a dramatic and vital three points for the Pilgrims.
At the same time, Leeds United picked up a big win over Preston North End at Elland Road, moving Daniel Farke's side, as well as Burnley, five points clear of Sheffield United at the summit of the Championship with just four games to play.
We're at that stage of the season where every single point gained, and dropped, has the potential to change the outcome of an entire campaign.
Therefore, tensions and emotions are understandably running high for those involved in battles at both the top and the bottom of the Championship.
As such, the potential for things to spill over on the pitch is always there, but rarely does that extend after the full-time whistle has been blown.
However, that was precisely the case at Home Park on Saturday afternoon, as the Blades boss was involved in a tussle with Plymouth players that extended into the tunnel area.
As captured by Sky Sports cameras that were covering the action on the pitch, a large number of players and staff from both sides were involved, in what quickly boiled over into a fully-fledged scrap.
With the footage quickly gaining traction after Sky Sports posted the clip to their X account, a host of Sheffield United supporters have been responding to seeing their manager involved in the dramatic scenes.
One fan wrote: "Don’t know why he’s upset. It’s his fault as he wouldn’t drop Robbo who has been at fault for all the goals conceded in the last two games."
Another said: "Dirty Plymouth at it again, but we did nothing about it till after the game."
Sheffield United will look to get their automatic promotion push back on track on Good Friday when they take on Cardiff City, but crucially, their quest for a top two place and an immediate return to the Premier League via that route, is now out of their hands.
