Sky Germany: Chelsea secure massive 40% sell-on clause for player they’ve just sold | OneFootball

According to Sky Germany, Chelsea have now secured a massive 40% sell-on clause on a player they have just agreed to sell!

That is a hugely impressive sell-on clause and something you don’t see much of, at least not that high. Sell on clauses are common, but usually for around the 20% mark. Chelsea have done very well to get this secured into the deal.

The Blues are working hard on getting outgoing deals done now and there is a new club interested in signing Nicolas Jackson. According to our own sources, Tottenham are now the latest club to be showing an interest in signing the striker from Chelsea this window after missing out on Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.

But last night, it was reported that Chelsea have now agreed a fee with Villarreal for defender Renato Veiga to head to the La Liga club on a permanent transfer this window.

And it is Veiga that Chelsea have managed to secure such an impressive sell-on fee for. So when Villarreal sell Veiga, who is still a very young player and is likely to move on for a decent fee at some point, Chelsea will get a very healthy chunk of that fee.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has reported on his X account:

“Exclusive details: Renato #Veiga will sign a 7-year contract with Villarreal until 2032. Chelsea have also secured a 40% sell-on clause. The total package is worth €30 million including bonuses.

“Agreement between Villarreal and Chelsea is done, with the medical scheduled for Thursday.”

The story was short

Veiga has come and gone at Chelsea very quick as his short story at the club ends already. I think something happened here and he was the one pushing to leave more than Chelsea pushing him out the door. It didn’t work out.
