Over a fortnight into the January transfer window, Marcus Rashford’s precarious situation remains unresolved.
It remains to be seen whether the forward will still be a Manchester United player by the February 3 deadline.
Judging by his recent admission, Ruben Amorim is none the wiser either, as he told reporters after last Sunday’s Arsenal clash: “I don’t know [if he’s played his final game for us]. We will see. He is a player for Manchester United. He loves this club, but I have to make choices. It is what it is.”
Rashford hasn’t been short of suitors since his exile from the first-team, though. AC Milan, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus have all either established their interest or been in contact with the player’s representatives to gauge the conditions of a prospective deal. For most, a loan is the only viable option.

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg revealed this afternoon that Dortmund’s pursuit of the 27-year-old has ‘gained momentum’ in recent days following their 3-2 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last Friday and surprise 4-2 loss at the hands of Holstein Kiel on Tuesday.
As a result, the club, who reached last season’s Champions League final, now rank all the way down in 10th place in the Bundesliga.
The board have also just signed off on the departure of Donyell Malen to Aston Villa, meaning reinforcements are imperative between now and the window closing in a few weeks’ time. Rashford, hailed as ‘unstoppable’ by Dortmund-linked Erik ten Hag, is now seemingly top of their shortlist.
Should the England international be omitted from Amorim’s matchday squad this evening, it’ll mark the eighth straight game that Rashford has had to watch on either from home or the substitutes’ bench, having last featured on December 12.
Prior to his expulsion, Rashford notched three goals in six appearances under the new boss.
