Leeds United Women’s boss Simon Wood has been named the FA WNL Manager of the Month for November.
Voted for by fans online, the Whites’ manager picked up the accolade after the side maintained a 100 per cent record across the month.
An impressive brace from Sian Gibrill-Keating and a composed finish from Drew Greene helped kick off November with a crucial 3-2 victory away against Chorley.
Elland Road awaited next up, where, in front of nearly 5,000 cheering supporters, the Whites cruised past York City Ladies 3-0, with Drew Greene again on the scoresheet alongside sister Darcie, and striker Amy Woodruff.
Leeds sit third in the Division One North standings with games in hand on other teams around them, and will return to action in January as they face Stockport County at the Bannister Prentice Stadium.
Also nominated for the award were Charlie Bill (Real Bedford), Craige Richardson (Barnsley Women’s FC) and Steve Cuss (AFC Bournemouth).
The manager spoke to leedsunited.com after being presented with the award.
He said: “It is really nice to be recognised, but the award is for the overall team, not just myself.
“The coaching staff as a collective work really hard with the players every week and they have responded brilliantly, by picking up some great results.
“In November we had the pleasure of playing in front of nearly 5,000 fans at Elland Road and that helped us to a great win over York City.
“There’s a long way to go in our season but the signs have been positive, so the message is clear now that everyone needs to stay on it and focused for when we come back after the Christmas break.”
