A headline member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has been offered up a staff-based role with his country, at the upcoming European Championships.

That’s according to Relevo, who point towards David Alaba as the player in question.

Stopper Alaba is for his part of course currently in the thick of his recovery from a long-term injury blow.

As much comes after the former Bayern Munich man was struck down by a torn ACL in December of last year.

Alaba was in turn ruled out of not only the remainder of Real Madrid’s campaign, but Austria’s upcoming ventures at Euro 2024, too.

And yet, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, the 31-year-old could yet go on to play his part for his country this summer.

As per the aforementioned Relevo:

‘Austria coach Ralf Rangnick has proposed to him to be part of his staff for the Euros.’

Alaba, his national team’s captain, is hugely grateful for the offer, ready to take up a role as ‘a member of the technical staff or within the Austrian organization’.

It is concluded that the sidelined defender will ‘100%’ join his compatriots in Germany this summer.
