The Owls looked destined to make an immediate return to League One after a disastrous start to the season under Xisco Munoz, but they achieved safety after a remarkable turnaround under Danny Rohl as they finished 20th in the table.

There were fears among Wednesday supporters that the club would lose Rohl this summer, but the German signed a new long-term contract at Hillsborough last month, and it could be a busy few months as he looks to rebuild his squad.

Loanees James Beadle, Kristian Pedersen, Jeff Hendrick, Momo Diaby, Ian Poveda, Ike Ugbo, and Ashley Fletcher have returned to their parent clubs, while Ciaran Brennan, Reece James, George Byers, Tyreeq Bakinson, Juan Delgado and Lee Gregory have been released at the end of their contracts.

Liam Palmer and Barry Bannan have both signed new deals with the Owls, but Will Vaulks turned down the club's contract offer to join newly-promoted Oxford United, and Cameron Dawson and Josh Windass have also reportedly decided against signing an extension.

Wednesday have brought in two new additions so far this summer, with goalkeeper Ben Hamer and defender Max Lowe arriving after their departures from Watford and Sheffield United respectively.

The transfer window is now officially open for business, and as speculation continues to gather pace, we rounded up all the latest Owls news.

According to The Star, Wednesday are working to complete the signing of Angers defender Yan Valery before the end of the week.

The Owls faced competition from Montpellier and Standard Liege for Valery, but they are set to win the race for his signature after agreeing a deal with Angers, with only the finer details still to be sorted.

Valery provided five assists in 37 appearances in all competitions for Angers this season to help them to promotion to the French top flight as they finished second in Ligue 2, and he is no stranger to English football having previously played for Southampton, where he worked with Wednesday boss Rohl, and Birmingham City.

The Tunisia international has made it clear he is keen to return to England, telling 90 Football earlier this month: "Actually, I have become English. When I go to England, I immediately feel this calmness and this way of living that I personally prefer... If I had the chance to go back to England, I’d take it."

It seems likely he will get that opportunity, and he could be announced as the Owls' third new signing of the summer in the coming days.

Duncan McGuire competition

Wednesday were involved in a complicated pursuit of Orlando City striker Duncan McGuire in January before he eventually joined Blackburn Rovers, but his move to Ewood Park collapsed due to an administrative error.

The Athletic claim that the Owls have reignited their interest in McGuire this summer, but they are not the only club keen on the USA international, with Serie A sides also said to be keeping tabs on him.

It remains to be seen which Italian clubs are plotting a move for McGuire, but Torino have previously been linked, and it could be tough for Wednesday to compete financially with his Serie A suitors.

, and his form does not seem to have been affected by his failed Blackburn move.

According to Football Insider, Wednesday are one of the clubs interested in signing Rotherham United defender Cameron Humphreys this summer, along with Millwall, Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City.

Humphreys made 27 appearances in all competitions for Rotherham in an injury-disrupted campaign this season, and while he was unable to prevent the club's relegation to League One, he was one of the Millers' standout performers when fit.

The 25-year-old has one year left on his contract at the New York Stadium, and it had been claimed that Rotherham could look to cash in on him this summer, but manager Steve Evans dismissed reports of interest in the defender.

"If he's mentioned with Wednesday then I’m not surprised if he’s mentioned with Thursday and Friday as well," Evans told the Rotherham Advertiser.

"Cameron has been really good for me in the three games he’s played but we are not aware of any interest from any club."
