In case you’ve been living under a rock on the moon over the past few weeks, you’ll be familiar with the beef that currently exists between ex-lovers Gerard Pique and Shakira.
Shakira, 45, separated from Pique, 35, in 2022 after more than 10 years together. The former couple also have two children together.
Speculation that Pique is now dating Clara Chia Marti, 23, was finally made official via Instagram earlier this week.
Pique posted a photo on his official Instagram page but without a caption.
Shakira, one of the world’s most famous pop stars, released a savage diss track at her former partner earlier this month.
The song ‘BZRP Music Sessions #53’ was watched 63 million times within the first 24 hours of being posted to YouTube – breaking the record to become the most-watched Latin music video in that time period.
Taking a less-than-subtle dig at Pique’s new girlfriend, Shakira says in her latest track: “You traded a Ferrari for a [Renault] Twingo” and “You traded a Rolex for a Casio”.
Pique, who ended his Barcelona career and retired from football in November, has since announced a sponsorship deal with Casio and been seen driving a Twingo.
As the old saying goes, Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned – and it seems that Shakira is about to release another song against Pique.
This is according to Marca, who claim that the Colombian artist is preparing a new song which is set to be released on February 2.
February 2 happens to be a rather significant date.
Why?
It’s both Shakira and Pique’s birthdays. Yes, really.
Apparently Shakira and Karol G recorded the new video in just two days – although the sessions lasted for more than 15 hours per day.
Marca say rumours suggest that Shakira’s new song could contain references to Pique in a ‘more subtle and less direct way’.
