Ange Postecoglou is under pressure after Tottenham Hotspur lost 4-3 against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
Spurs have already lost seven games in the league this season, and they are without a win their last four games.
While Postecoglou is adamant that he does not need to change the style of football, pundits fear that if the trend continues, he might not stay longer.
Daniel Levy sacked 13 managers during his time at Spurs, and he is not afraid to make changes if the situation does not improve.
Alan Pardew was asked by a Tottenham fan on talkSPORT who he would recommend if Levy asks him to appoint a new manager to replace Postecoglou.
Broadcaster Majestic says it has reached a point where he would take Harry Redknapp back at the club, but Pardew feels that Spurs should appoint a young and dynamic manager, someone who is “untarnished” and yet doing a “great” job.
The former West Ham United manager suggests that Michael Carrick would be a good option for Spurs.
“Listen, I personally would go for somebody who is untarnished,” said Pardew.
“You sometimes have to look at young managers and give them a chance. Michael Carrick is doing a great job at Middlesbrough. If I was a Premiership club I would seriously have him on the list.”
Levy has previously sacked managers on similar results (Juande Ramos), but this time, he will probably give more time to Postecoglou to turn it around.
Spurs are playing an attractive brand of football, but they are defensively so vulnerable.
It feels like other teams fancy playing against them because they know Spurs would concede goals. Postecoglou has made it clear that he won’t change his philosophy, and his stubbornness could hurt the club going forward.
Carrick is doing a fantastic job at Boro. They have jumped to fifth in the Championship table, eight points behind Sheffield United, and he won’t be a bad option for Spurs if they decide to sack Postecoglou.
He knows the culture of the club very well, having served them as a player. Spurs are in a tough situation, and the players have vowed to stick together.
