Kicker and all major German footballing media sources report that Schalke right back Taylan Bulut is on the verge of transferring to Beşiktaş. The talented Germany U19 international appeared destined to make the leap from the 2. Bundesliga to German top flight this season, but will be moving to Turkey instead. Schalke are set to receive €5-6m for their teenage prospect.
Bulut was rumored to have an exit clause in his current contract that could have netted Schalke upwards of €10m. This clause nevertheless expired in mid-May. Some German sources are claiming that die Königsblauen might still pocket upwards of €8m via bonuses. It does nevertheless appear to be the case that (as reported by Patrick Berger and others) Schalke have not secured a re-sale clause.
With an estimated market value of €6m, Bulut shares the distinction of being the most valuable player on the Schalke squad. Ever since breaking through for the S04 first team last season, the 19-year-old has become one of German football’s hottest young commodities on the transfer market. Many clubs remained interested in the versatile player throughout the summer.
It’s not yet clear why Bulut opted for the Süper Lig.
