Sam Allardyce urges Manchester United to make Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti their next manager | OneFootball

Former Everton and West Bromwich Albion boss Sam Allardyce has called on Manchester United to replace Erik ten Hag with Carlo Ancelotti.

Ten Hag’s job is hanging in the balance and with each passing day it’s looking increasingly likely that he will be relieved of his duties at United.

The Dutchman has overseen a pretty underwhelming campaign that saw the club finish in eighth position in the Premier League – their worst ever since the 1989/90 First Division.

All through, it has been mentioned that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have not made a definitive decision on Ten Hag and they will make a final determination on his future after this weekend’s FA Cup final.

However, reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio recently relayed that it’s certain Ten Hag will no longer carry on in the Old Trafford dugout.

The 54-year-old’s situation hasn’t been helped by the fact that United continue to be strongly linked with his potential successors including Kieran McKenna, Thomas Tuchel, Thomas Frank, Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter, just to mention a few names.

However, according to Allardyce who spoke on the No Tippy Tippy Football podcast, Ancelotti would be a far better option for the Red Devils.

Allardyce said, “I know who I’d bring in… Ancelotti, if he’s leaving Real Madrid.”

“He would [go to Manchester United].”

“He went to Everton! He’s the most successful manager, he’s far more successful than Pep.”

Ancelotti would indeed be a solid managerial appointment for United. His winning record speaks for itself.

The Italian coach has won four Champions League trophies, four Super Cups, a Premier League title, a Bundesliga, a Ligue 1 title, a Scudetto and the FA Cup.

However, it’s unlikely he would leave a very stable and successful project at Real Madrid for the uncertainties at United.

He also has a contract with Los Blancos until 2026
