AS Saint-Étienne’s Lucas Stassin (20) attracted interest from sides throughout the window, however, he ultimately remained with Les Verts, despite their drop to Ligue 2. ASSE’s asking price and their determination to keep hold of the Belgian explain why.
Paris FC lodged a deadline-day bid that they were hoping would be enough to tempt Saint-Étienne to sell Stassin.
On deadline day, a bid worth €29m, including bonuses, was submitted to Saint-Étienne. The Belgian has been keen on a departure, so as to avoid a season playing in Ligue 2. Backed by wealthy owners, Saint-Étienne have been reticent to sell Stassin.
That bid was not enough to convince ASSE to part ways with their star striker. As per a report from Le Parisien, Saint-Étienne’s asking price was set at a staggering €42. That consisted of a fixed fee of €35m, plus another €7m in bonuses. Paris FC didn’t manage to meet that asking price, and so Stassin will remain at the Chaudron.
