Sadio Mane could reportedly make a shock return to the Premier League this summer, just 12 months on from signing for Bayern Munich.

Liverpool supporters were gutted to see the 31-year-old leave, with his departure having a significant impact on Jurgen Klopp’s team.

However, Mane could be one of several high-profile stars to leave Bayern, with Thomas Tuchel planning a major rebuild.

During his time at Liverpool, the Senegal international won every major trophy possible – scoring 120 goals and making 48 assists in 269 appearances.

Last summer, he secured a £35m switch to Bayern Munich. But, despite winning a Bundesliga title, the winger has endured a tumultuous time in Germany.

Indeed, an alleged bust-up with teammate Leroy Sane following Bayern’s Champions League elimination to Manchester City in April resulted in Mane being suspended by the club.

After that, Mane only featured sporadically for the German giants. Overall, the attacker made 38 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring 12 goals and assisting six times.

In his absence, Liverpool have had a disappointing season. They finished in fifth place in the Premier League table, missing out on the top four by four points.

This is in stark contrast to the previous campaign, when, with the help of Mane, they came close to winning a historic quadruple.

Now, amid links with a return to Liverpool and shockingly, with Manchester United and Newcastle, Mane looks set to leave Bayern this summer.

This is according to German outlet Bild (via the Liverpool Echo) who claim Bayern are planning a ‘drastic shake-up ‘ after almost missing out on the Bundesliga title.

For example, Club chairman Herbert Hainer has already axed CEO Oliver Kahn and director Hasan Salihamidzic, with several players expected to follow.

Bild name Mane, Sane and former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry as three players who are ‘expected’ to leave.

The report states that Mane could be in line for a shock return to Liverpool. However, while this would be popular with Reds fans, it still seems fairly unlikely.

Klopp has already brought in the likes of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo to cover for Mane’s absence. So, it would still be a shock to see him back at Anfield.

Indeed, a move to Man Utd or Newcastle is still more likely than a Liverpool return. With Mane’s high wages of approximately £250,000-per-week making the Premier League his most likely next destination.

With that in mind, a return to England is definitely possible for Mane. So he will definitely be a player to keep an eye on in the transfer window.
