Former Roma and Bayer Leverkusen striker Rudi Voeller discussed the upcoming Europa League semifinals involving the two teams.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Voeller revealed his intention to attend Thursday’s match at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

“Bayer Leverkusen are experiencing an exceptional moment, having won the German league for the first time, you can imagine the energy they’re feeling right now. Everywhere in Germany I go everyone recognizes that it wasn’t a matter of luck, random or otherwise. They recognize Leverkusen’s style of play.”

“Xabi Alonso? Very good person, always correct, coaches the same way he played, has a great style. And he improved many players. I think of Jonathan Tah, the central defender: with Xabi Alonso he made an incredible leap forward. But he’s not the only one.”

“Roma? I am very happy for Roma and De Rossi. We exchanged some messages, various compliments. We’ve been friends for I don’t know how many years. He is a very good lad and he is also becoming a great coach. I’ll happy if he reaches the Champions League, he deserves it.”
