Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has claimed that he is happy with Alejandro Garnacho being annoyed with him after being dropped for the Manchester derby last weekend.

Speaking in the second part of his pre-match press conference before the Carabao cup quarter final with Tottenham Hotspur he elaborated on the issue.

When asked about Garnacho’s reaction to being left out of the squad he said, “really good, he trained really well. He seems a little bit upset with me and that is perfect! I was really, really happy because I would do the same. He is ready for this game.”

It has been reported that the Argentine is part of the squad that has travelled to London. However, there still seems no place for Marcus Rashford who gave an interview stating that he wants a new challenge in his career.

Amorim had already suggested in the first half of the press conference that he wanted to keep Marcus Rashford at the club in spite of also leaving him out of the squad.

Adding more detail to the Rashford situation he said, “Marcus was sick in this first training, but he trained really well on the day of the game.”

“Nothing’s changed. We believe in Marcus. Marcus is a player of Manchester United so there’s no change.”

The Portuguese coach also commented on Mason Mount’s injury, who was also not part of the squad that will take on Spurs aiming to reach the semi-final of the league cup.

“He’s really sad. In the dressing room he was really, really sad so we need to help him.”

“When the player is in this moment with a lot of injuries and with this schedule and we have to maintain the load and we have to travel and with travelling you cannot train, it’s really hard for them.”

“We will try to find a better way to recover these kind of guys like Mount and Luke Shaw because after a few weeks and a few months they will be ready to cope with a lot of things.”

Finally, the head coach was pressed on what the club or he plan to do about the drama surrounding leaked teams news but Amorim insisted this is not as big problem as people are making it out to be.

He was asked what he will do and he retorted, “nothing and, nowadays, all the coaches know about [things] because I explain a lot of things about the team, the way we play. I want to play the positioning, etc.”

“But I say that because I understand that the coaches have that information, just from seeing, one time, Manchester United play. So I’m not worried, really worried about that. And I also cannot control that. So I will do the same things. I prepare the same for games because for me, it’s more important for my players to go to the game with a clear idea of what and how to do it, than try to hide something to protect the leaking of the starting XI.”
