Ruben Amorim has suggested that Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres won't leave until the summer.

Ruben Amorim has indicated that Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres will remain at the club until the end of the season amid fierce speculation surrounding his future.

The Sweden international has been incredible for the Lisbon giants since his move from Coventry City, and he arguably had his finest night for the club on Tuesday as he scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Man City in the Champions League.

Whilst two came from the penalty spot, the 26-year-old was a constant threat throughout with his pace and power, and he took the chances that came his way.

After his performance, it once again prompted talk about Gyokeres potentially leaving, and a host of top European clubs have been linked with the number nine in recent months.

, whilst it has been said that Gyokeres is on the radar of Barcelona.

Perhaps understandably, there is also talk that Amorim could look to take Gyokeres to Man United, with the Portuguese coach set to take over at Old Trafford next week.

However, when speaking to TNT Sports after his last home game as Sporting CP boss, Amorim indicated that Gyokeres will see out the season in Lisbon before making a decision on his future after he was asked whether he wanted to take the player to United.

Coventry will be keeping tabs on what happens with Gyokeres, as they included a sell-on clause as part of the deal when he left.

It was initially 15% of any profit on the €20m Sporting CP paid, although the Portuguese champions paid Coventry in the summer to reduce that by 5%.

So, the Sky Blues are entitled to 10% of any profit on Gyokeres’ next move, which is likely to be considerably more than what they sold him for.

It has been claimed previously that Gyokeres has a release clause of €100m (£83m), although more recent reports say that the player has an agreement with the club that means he could be sold for less than that fee.

Nevertheless, it will still represent a major windfall for Coventry, and they will no doubt hope any buying clubs do meet his release clause.
