Agustín Rossi has once again put himself at the center of Flamengo’s defensive solidity, reaching a run of three clean sheets in his last five outings. The Argentine goalkeeper’s recent shutouts came in matches that mattered for Flamengo’s season, including a 1-0 win in the city derby against Fluminense on July 20, a commanding 5-0 display over Fortaleza on June 1, and a 2-0 victory over Palmeiras on May 25.
Rossi’s presence in goal has produced more than just a brief spell of form. He already holds Flamengo’s record for the longest run without conceding, with a personal streak of 960 minutes, moving beyond goalkeeper figures from the club’s history. Globally, he reached fifth on the all-time minutes-without-conceding list with 1,470 minutes. These aren’t isolated moments; they underline a continuity that has characterized his stint with Flamengo since his arrival in 2023.
Across 109 appearances for the club, Rossi has posted 63 wins, 29 draws, and just 17 defeats, conceding 72 goals in total. Flamengo currently boasts the best defensive record in the 2025 edition of the Campeonato Brasileiro, with Rossi’s performances often highlighted in post-match discussions. He has been named player of the match on several occasions, with his decisive interventions, including a standout performance in the clássico with Botafogo. In the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Rossi ranked seventh among goalkeepers for save percentage, registering an 80% effectiveness rate.
Consistency has defined Rossi’s campaign. Alongside his recent run, he compiled an even longer stretch earlier in the season, going seven matches without conceding. In high-stakes games, Rossi’s save percentage rises to 87%, such as in the Copa Libertadores fixture against Bolívar, where he made seven stops.
Within Brazil, and even in continental comparisons, Rossi is measured against peers such as Weverton at Palmeiras and Alisson at Liverpool. His approach is often described as simple and effective, earning recognition for reliability. Statistically, his invincible runs eclipse those of Flamengo’s historical keepers and keep him in the conversation among leading South American goalkeepers.
Flamengo’s administration sees Rossi as a cornerstone of their squad. Talks are underway to extend his contract through to 2031, amid interest from European sides like Udinese and clubs in the Middle East. For now, the club’s strategy is clear: maintain Rossi as the defensive leader and technical reference point of the team.
