Jade Rose says Manchester City instantly ‘felt like home’ after initial conversations with the Club.

The 22-year-old Canada international has become our first summer signing, penning a four-year deal which keeps her at the Joie Stadium until the summer of 2029.

She arrives as one of the most exciting young defenders in world football after graduating from Harvard University, collecting numerous Ivy League accolades while also being voted Canada Young Women’s Player of the Year in 2023.

Making the step into professional domestic football with 28 senior international caps to her name already, Rose says joining City was an easy decision after speaking to Managing Director Charlotte O’Neill and Director of Football Therese Sjogran.

“I’m so incredibly excited, so proud of how far I’ve come, and I just can’t wait to get started. I think the history of the Club, the fans, the style of play, the city, everything [attracted me to City],” she said.

“I was really excited to make the move across the pond and after speaking to the Club it just felt like home.

“[We spoke about] a wide range of things. Obviously how I fit into the team and where they saw me was the core of the conversation, but a lot of it was what life would be like here, how they see me progressing throughout.

“My contract, how I can help the Club, how the Club can help me. Just everything and it just really felt like the place for me.”

Rose joins City ahead of the 2025/26 season as we bid to restore our place as title challengers following our fourth place finish last term.

Although we won’t be competing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League as a result this upcoming term, our newest recruit says she’s relishing the chance to grow alongside the Blues and compete for every trophy available during her time in Manchester.

She added: “I’m just super excited to get started.”

“I’m ready to win Champions Leagues, to win every trophy that’s out there.

“I think the sky is the limit for this team and I can’t wait to grow and get at it.”
