Manchester United won’t be alone in their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo this summer.

For several weeks have the Red Devils been linked with Brentford’s prolific talisman, who’s just enjoyed a career-best campaign at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Amidst a time when numerous clubs are frantically scouring the market for proven attackers, Mbeumo has found himself on the shortlists of United, Arsenal and Newcastle United, though none of the sides have materialised their interest with a bid.

It’s no surprise he’s a man in demand, either.

Mbeumo rounded off 2024/2025 with a hugely impressive 20 goals and eight assists to his name in 38 matches — 11 more goals than he recorded last season, showing just how much he was able to flourish in Ivan Toney’s absence.

He also started every single game of the campaign and played a total of 3,417 minutes. Such availability will only further drive his suitors’ interest.

Mbeumo’s Brentford future: The state of play

It’s thought Brentford will be looking to recuperate around £50 million from Mbeumo’s exit, with Thomas Frank previously making it clear that while he doesn’t want to offload the productive and dependable star, it’s part and parcel of being a ‘selling club’.

The Bees boss previously singled Mbeumo out for his ‘unplayable’ performance after a 4-2 win over Newcastle back in December, where he opened the scoring inside eight minutes to clinch his ninth goal of the term.

Fabrizio Romano has asserted that United hold concrete interest in the 22-capped Cameroon international, saying on YouTube: “Bryan Mbeumo is a player [United] like. So, for sure, he remains on the list, but they know they are not alone.

“There are several clubs interested – Newcastle, Arsenal, many clubs. So let me say that Man United, Newcastle, and Arsenal are all clubs monitoring the player.”

Elsewhere, Matheus Cunha became INEOS’ first acquisition of the summer window after they activated his £62.5m release clause.
