Romania star Ianis Hagi asks to leave Rangers

Well-respected Rangers source 4lads have confirmed Ianis Hagi has asked to leave Rangers after a breakdown in his relationship with Michael Beale and demands to play were ignored.

The Romanian star, who has struggled with injury the past 18+ months, signed a new four-year deal as recently as last December, but it appears this was a Ross Wilson-sanctioned move and not a Michael Beale one, as Rangers’ manager has rejected Hagi’s requests to play, leading to the attacker handing in an effective transfer request.

Hagi hinted that things weren’t right, for him anyway, after he publicly criticised the manager saying he didn’t agree with the decision to not play him, before announcing he didn’t need to prove himself and boasted of his achievements with Rangers as evidence.

Unfortunately for Hagi, this is a bit of a misguided move, suggesting his CV is evidence he has nothing to prove, when after an injury like that, a player has everything to prove all over again. It’s the nature of the beast.

Whether right or wrong, Beale doesn’t rate or want Hagi – the attacker has been fit for months, and with the attacking depth Michael Beale now has at his disposal, the clear apathy he has for the ex-Genk man sees the lad on the bench and not starting.

But either way, Ianis Hagi’s Rangers career is over, and from what we’re led to believe, his departure is already pretty advanced in negotiations.

More as we get it on this one.
